Seerkatchi Packil Pandian Bhaskaran is the Founder and Festival Director of “Chennai World Film Festival”.
He used to travel to film festivals like “The International Film Festival of India, Goa, “The International Film Festival of Kerala, “The Chennai International Film Festival”, ” the Bengaluru International Film Festival”, watching films and introducing them to fellow Cinema Lovers and Media. He participates in the Cannes Film Festival 2024.
He started the “Chennai Independent Film Society” in Chennai, which Selected the best Tamil films, held a ceremony, and honoured the creators with awards from 2018 onwards. Chennai Independent Film Society honoured films like ‘Merku Thodarchi Malai’, ‘Pariyerum Perumal’, ‘To-Let’, ‘Chillukarupatti’, ‘Maamanithan’, ‘Nenjuku Neethi’, ‘Writer’, ‘Madathi’, ‘Jaibeem’, ‘Kadaisi Vivasayi’, ‘Karnan’, and ‘Gargi’.
The ‘Chennai World Cinema Festival’ in Chennai Selected the best Tamil films, held a ceremony, and honoured the creators with awards from 2024 onwards.
The Chennai World Cinema Festival honoured films such as Kalvan, Kottukali, and Kozhipannai Chelladurai.
He is called “World Cinema Bhaskaran” by his friends and people from the film industry.
He has been producing and directing TV commercials since 1985.
From the year 2000, He got engaged and developed a keen interest in World Cinema, subsequently starting complete research on it.
He continued to watch world cinema, got inspired, and always talked and wrote about it.
He used to travel to film festivals like “International Film Festival of India, Goa, “International Film Festival of Kerala, “Chennai International Film Festival”, ” Bengaluru International Film Festival”, watching films and introducing them to fellow Cinema Lovers and Media.
He started “Kovai Film Society” in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, and screened two world cinemas a week from 2016 onwards. Subsequently, he successfully launched the “Coimbatore International Children’s Film Festival” and “Coimbatore Indian Children’s Film Festival”.

It’s been 25 years since I have been traveling In the Universe of World Cinema. Today is one of the happiest days in my life, It’s the day, all my dreams come true. Chennai International Film Festival is beginning its first step today. My goal is to take Tamil cinema to the world cinema audience. Apparently, through this festival, I wanted to bring the best films selected across reputed International festivals to the filmmakers in here. Using this, our people can learn and raise the quality of the films they are about to make in the future. I have got many more objectives and with all your help, I hope this becomes a reality.
